BNP wants to build the country with the advice of youth, leaving the politics of blame: Tarique Rahman

Staff Correspondent:

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) wants to take the advice of youth to build the country through a realistic plan, leaving the politics of mutual blame. He said that progress in politics is not possible without an effective plan to solve the real problems of the people.

He said these things while participating in a policy talk with the youth at an event titled “The Plan: Youth Policy Talk with Tarique Rahman (Chittagong Division)” held in Chittagong on Sunday (January 25, 2026) morning.

Tarique Rahman said that promises should not be made, there should be a sincere effort to implement them. Otherwise, the people will not stand by any political party. He also said that no plan will be successful if the law and order system cannot be strengthened and corruption prevented.

Regarding extortion and corruption, the BNP Chairman said that extortion has spread at various levels of society. However, if the government gives a clear message of zero tolerance against corruption, these crimes will be reduced to a large extent.

Regarding the youth’s higher education abroad, Tarique Rahman said that many students face financial crisis while studying abroad. To solve this problem, BNP is planning to introduce student loans so that talented students do not fall behind due to financial reasons.

Regarding environment and water management, he said that by digging canals, on the one hand, it will be possible to resolve rain-related waterlogging, and on the other hand, the groundwater reserves will also increase. He said that there is a plan to dig about 20,000 kilometers of canals across the country if BNP comes to power.

Mentioning the special importance given to vocational education, Tarique Rahman said that the demand for vocational jobs will increase globally in the next five to ten years and those subjects will be included in the curriculum. He also mentioned that if skilled human resources are created through training and language education and sent abroad, it will be possible to export high-quality labor.

Regarding the health sector, the BNP chairman said that simply building hospitals in each district is not a sustainable solution. Rather, the BNP wants to build an effective and sustainable health system by appointing health care workers and creating health awareness in every household.

Regarding the modernization of the education system, Tarique Rahman said that if the country’s schools are brought under audio-visual connection, the best teachers from different regions will be able to teach simultaneously. At the same time, modern technology will be provided for the training of teachers.

Young representatives from different districts of Chittagong division participated in the program and expressed their views on issues related to education, employment, technology and policymaking.
