On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has extended his heartfelt greetings and Eid Mubarak to Muslims in Bangladesh and all over the world. He wished for happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being of the Muslim world.
He said, “After a long month of fasting and worship, the Muslim ummah celebrates a special festival of thanksgiving to Allah by breaking the fast on the sighting of the moon of the month of Shawwal. This festival is Eid-ul-Fitr. On this day, Muslims around the world greet each other. The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. The joyful moment of Eid-ul-Fitr comes through the great initiation of self-purification during the month-long Ramadan. Eid brings us a message of joy, a great opportunity to gain the pleasure and closeness of Allah. On this day, everyone is bound together in a new bond of friendship, harmony and love.”
The BNP Secretary General further said, “After a long decade and a half, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in a country free from fascism. Many families have lost relatives as a result of the persecution and torture of disappearances, murders, assassinations. We must express deep sympathy to those families and stand by them.”
He called on the well-off people of the society and said, “So that the joy of Eid can be shared by all classes of people in the society, it is the responsibility of the well-off people of the society to put a smile on everyone’s face. Assistance should be increased so that no helpless and distressed person goes hungry, so that everyone can share the joy of Eid.”
Finally, he said, “On this holy day, may the unbroken stream of peace flow into every home in Bangladesh. This is my wish on the holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr.”
