BIDA Day-long Workshop Held in Saidpur

A day-long workshop titled “Local Investment Development and Inclusion of Investment Services in OSS Platform” was held at the Saidpur Municipal Community Center on Monday, May 26, 2025, under the initiative of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Rangpur Divisional Office and in collaboration with Saidpur Municipality and Nilphamari District Administration.

BIDA Executive Member (Additional Secretary) Dr. Khandaker Azizul Islam was present as the chief guest of the workshop. He said, “The Bidar One Stop Service (OSS) platform for investors is a groundbreaking digital initiative, through which investors can easily avail 134 services of 44 government institutions of the country. This has simplified the investment process and saved both time and cost. In addition, we are going to launch five services required for starting a business through a single application and fee under the one process, one fee through Bidar OSS by September. If this service is launched, the small and medium entrepreneurs of the country will benefit the most. They will get the necessary licenses and approvals related to their business by filling a single form. At this time, he urged investors to avail Bidar investment services.

Rangpur Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Mr. Md. Abdul Motaleb Sarkar and Nilphamari District Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Faruk Ahmed were present as special guests. The Additional Divisional Commissioner said, “The existing manpower, communication system and natural resources in Rangpur division have created a big opportunity for industrialization. The government is committed to encouraging local investors.”

The keynote address was presented by BIDA Director General Mr. Jiban Krishna Saha Roy. He discussed in detail the effectiveness of the OSS platform and investment-friendly reforms.

The workshop was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari district Mr. Mohammad Nairuzzaman. He said, “There is huge potential for industrial development in Nilphamari district including Saidpur. It is possible to implement it with the participation and cooperation of local entrepreneurs.”

Officials of government and private organizations, local entrepreneurs, business representatives and media personnel participated in the day-long workshop. Participants expressed their views on various opportunities and challenges of industrialization in the Rangpur region.
