Bengali New Year was celebrated with festive atmosphere and colorful arrangements across the country. People welcomed the New Year with various programs, cultural performances and traditional arrangements in every district and upazila of the country, including the capital.

This year’s New Year celebration was particularly significant. For the first time, the Baisakhi procession organized in the capital saw the participation of different ethnic groups from the hills and plains, which set a unique example of diversity and inclusion. People participating in the procession wore traditional clothes, musical instruments, and cultural presentations of their respective ethnic groups.
