Begum Khaleda Zia to be awarded ‘Best Indomitable Woman in the Advancement of Democracy’ award

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs is going to award Begum Khaleda Zia, the heroine of democracy, with the ‘Best Indomitable Woman in the Advancement of Democracy’ award under the Indomitable Women Award program. Begum Khaleda Zia will be awarded this award at a ceremony organized to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 at the Osmani Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday (March 8, 2026).

This award is being given for Begum Khaleda Zia’s indomitable leadership in restoring democracy through uncompromising struggle and for her outstanding contribution to establishing democratic trends. Like other years, this year too, five women will be awarded as the Best Indomitable Women in five categories.

Nurun Nahar Akhter is being awarded in the category of women who have achieved success in the economic field, Babita Khatun is being awarded in the category of women who have achieved success in education and employment, Nurbanu Kabir is being awarded in the category of successful mothers, Shamla Begum is being awarded in the category of women who have overcome the nightmare of oppression and have won the struggle for life, and Afroza Yasmin is being awarded as the best indomitable woman in the category of women who have made outstanding contributions to social development.
