Bank of Ceylon (BOC) proudly participated as the Official Banking Partner at the 9th ABU Media Summit on Climate Action & Disaster Prevention held in Mount Lavinia, bringing together 100 local and international delegates. Representing the Bank as a panelist, Chairman Mr. Kavinda de Zoysa highlighted BOC’s commitment to sustainability, climate action, alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and contributions to Sri Lanka’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

BOC continues to lead with innovative environmental initiatives, including biodegradable cards and tills, enhanced plastic and paper recycling programmes, 100 solar-powered branches generating 4MW of energy, and green-certified buildings. The Bank’s environmental efforts also extend to conservation and community engagement, partnering with Biodiversity Sri Lanka and the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) for coastal cleanups in Beruwala, supporting mangrove restoration projects, and conducting wildlife awareness initiatives.

Through green financing for solar energy, electric vehicles, and waste management projects, along with plans for an upcoming sustainability bond, BOC is actively supporting Sri Lanka’s green transition and building a more sustainable future for the nation.
