A distinguished group of Bangladeshi representatives has recently returned from Australia after successfully completing the Australia Awards Short Course on Indigenous Environmental Knowledge, hosted by the University of the Sunshine Coast. The delegation included the Chief of the Mong Circle and prominent indigenous development leaders from Bangladesh.

The course brought together participants from Bangladesh, Mongolia, and Nepal for an immersive learning experience focused on Indigenous knowledge systems and sustainable environmental practices. Throughout the program, delegates engaged closely with Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through cultural exchange, reciprocal learning, and field-based activities.

As part of the course, participants visited significant ecological and cultural sites, including the Bunya Mountains, Australia Zoo, Kakadu National Park, and Noosa National Park. These visits provided hands-on insights into Indigenous approaches to land management, conservation, and environmental stewardship, as well as a deeper understanding of First Nations culture and history.
The Bangladeshi delegates expressed optimism about applying the knowledge and experiences gained in Australia to support sustainable conservation efforts and empower indigenous communities back home.
