Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Grigorievich Khozin paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam. The meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (March 15, 2026) discussed the existing friendly relations and future cooperation between the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian Ambassador congratulated the State Minister for Foreign Affairs on assuming the new responsibility and expressed hope that the relations between Bangladesh and Russia will continue to strengthen in the future.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that Bangladesh and Russia have long-standing friendly relations and these relations are currently expanding in various fields including energy, trade and investment, science and technology, education, transfer of skilled manpower and people-to-people contacts.
At the time, the Russian Ambassador reiterated Russia’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and praised Bangladesh’s ongoing engagement with Russia.
During the meeting, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs sought Russia’s support for Bangladesh’s candidacy for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly for the term of 2026-2027.
At the end of the discussion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the continuous progress in relations between the two countries and expressed their determination to further advance the existing cooperation in mutual interests.
