Bangladesh reaffirms commitment to further strengthen cooperation in UN peacekeeping operations

A luncheon was organized on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) in honor of the Force Commanders and Heads of Military Components serving in UN peacekeeping missions at the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations. The event was hosted by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh. The event was attended by UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support Atul Khare, Acting Military Advisor to the Office of Military Affairs Lieutenant General Cheryl Pierce, Force Commanders of various countries, senior UN officials and diplomatic figures.

At the beginning of the event, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, delivered a welcome speech. He expressed deep gratitude for the visionary leadership of the Force Commanders and Heads of Military Components serving in the complex and challenging peacekeeping mission. He noted that the Bangladeshi peacekeepers serving under their leadership bring glory and dignity to the nation. At the same time, he highly appreciated their continued cooperation and assistance in ensuring the safety, professionalism and effectiveness of the peacekeepers.

Paying deep respect to the martyred members who sacrificed themselves in peacekeeping operations, Ambassador Chowdhury said that their sacrifice will remain a source of inspiration in establishing world peace. He expressed his determination to further strengthen Bangladesh’s contribution based on partnership with the United Nations and the international community.

The program was hosted by the Defense Attaché of the mission, Brigadier General Mohammad Golam Rabbani.
