Bangladesh Olympic Association Held Executive Committee Special Meeting

A special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) was held at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday (July 16, 2025). BOA President and Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, psc, presided over the meeting.

The members of the BOA Executive Committee were present at the meeting. During the discussion, the proposed draft constitution was unanimously approved and it was decided to send it to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for its opinion.

In addition, a final decision was taken to include a total of 32 disciplines in the proposed Olympic Complex. This initiative is being considered as a very important step towards further enriching the country’s sports arena.

The meeting also decided that a grand boat racing competition will be organized in the Karatoya River of Baghabari Union of Shahajadpur Police Station of Sirajganj district in the latter half of August. It was hoped that this traditional competition would create an atmosphere of a national festival by combining sports and culture.
