Australian wool opens new opportunities for Bangladesh’s textile sector

Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle highlighted the potential of premium Australian wool in Bangladesh at a special event held in Dhaka. The Australian Premium Wool Seminar 2025 and Bangladesh Denim Expo, held in collaboration with The Woolmark Company and Michel Wool, highlighted the excellent quality, versatility and sustainability of Australian merino wool.

It was informed at the event that The Woolmark Company, the global authority for Australian wool, is working to promote education, quality, innovation and sustainable fashion. Their initiatives are playing a significant role in ensuring sustainable production in the global fashion sector.

Michel Wool, a 155-year-old Australian wool processing company, said that they have jointly developed eqwools™ technology with the Institute for Frontier Materials at Deakin University. Through this technology, it is possible to spin 100% merino wool in a conventional cotton system, which will open up new possibilities in the existing textile production structure of Bangladesh.
