Army Chief visits army camp in Dhaka on the occasion of 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026

Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, visited the army camp located at the National Stadium, Gulistan in Dhaka Metropolitan City on Thursday (5 February 2026) and participated in a meeting of views with the civilian administration.

During the visit, the Army Chief exchanged views with senior military officers, representatives of the divisional and district administrations including Dhaka Metropolitan City, and senior officers of various law enforcement agencies in a meeting organized at the conference room of the National Stadium.

The meeting discussed in detail inter-institutional coordination, overall security management and field-level activities to ensure that the upcoming National Parliament Election and Referendum are conducted peacefully, fairly and impartially. At this time, the Army Chief laid special emphasis on maintaining professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly behavior in the performance of his duties.

He also observed the activities of the army personnel deployed under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ on the spot and provided necessary guidance.

The inspection and exchange of views meeting held in Dhaka was attended by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Army Training and Doctrine Command; GOC, 9 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Savar Area; Army Headquarters, Dhaka and Savar Area senior military officers. In addition, the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka, senior officers of the civil administration, representatives of various law enforcement agencies and media personnel were also present.

It is worth noting that, with the aim of strengthening inter-institutional and inter-service coordination among all organizations performing electoral duties in the upcoming elections, the Army Chief has been continuously holding exchange meetings with senior military officers, civil administration of all divisions and districts, and officials of various law enforcement agencies in Dhaka, Chittagong, Comilla, Rangpur, Bogra, Barisal, Jessore, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Ghatail and Savar areas since January 22, 2026.
