Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that the harassment people face at passport offices must be eradicated.
“It is essential to ensure that people receive proper services” said the adviser.
He urged the new officials to remember that they are part of the Passport and Immigration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and they must work with a service-oriented mindset that reflects their designation.
The adviser made these remarks as the chief guest at an orientation program for 20 new officers appointed as assistant directors in the Passport and Immigration Department on Monday (23 September, 2024) at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Calling for dedication to national service with patriotism and sincerity, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) emphasized that the newly appointed officials are relatively more talented.
He encouraged them to utilize their intellect in serving the nation and urged everyone to stay away from bribery and corruption
Jahangir also stated that they must submit asset declarations.
The adviser also requested officials to refrain from lobbying for postings.
According to Senior Information Officer Faisal Hasan of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the orientation program was attended by Senior Secretary of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Md Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury and Director General of the Passport and Immigration Department Major General Md Nurul Anwar.
