Action will be taken against law enforcement officers if they are found negligent in carrying out their duties, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) has said that legal action will be taken against law enforcement officers if they are found negligent in carrying out their duties.
The advisor said this while briefing reporters after laying wreaths at the Banani Military Cemetery in the capital on Tuesday (February 25, 2025) morning to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the BDR massacre and the ‘National Martyr Army Day’.

The advisor said that a special operation has been started since yesterday (Monday) evening to improve the law and order situation. If any of our employees or forces are negligent in this operation, they will be brought under the law. No one will be spared. Be it the police, BGB, RAB, Ansar or the Prisons Directorate, those who do not work properly will be brought under the law.
Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that the families of the martyrs in the BDR massacre had two main demands. One was for justice and the other was to declare a Martyrs’ Day. The government has already declared February 25 as ‘National Martyrs’ Day’ and this is the first time that ‘National Martyrs’ Day’ is being celebrated. He said that a National Independent Full-fledged Investigation Commission has been formed to uncover the domestic and foreign conspiracies and real events involved in the BDR mutiny and to identify the criminals. The investigation commission is expected to submit its investigation report within 90 days. Those found guilty according to the commission’s report will be brought to justice. The advisor prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyred army members in the BDR massacre.

Earlier, representatives of the President and the Chief Advisor, the Home Affairs Advisor, the chiefs of the three services, the Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry, the BGB Director General and relatives of the martyred families laid wreaths at the graves of the army officers martyred in the 2009 Peelkhana massacre.
