A Progressive State Requires the Continuity of the Constitution: Ruhul Kabir Rizvi

Today, Monday (December 1, 2025), a discussion meeting of DESH Townhall was held at the Agargaon National Archives Auditorium, titled “The Future of Bangladesh”. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was present as the chief guest at the event. The session was moderated by Ahmed Ehsan Kabir Shaan and Tausif Akib Khan.

At the discussion meeting, Rizvi Ahmed highlighted the importance of conveying the correct history of the Liberation War to the young generation and said that it is very important for the youth to know the story of independence, the history of the war and the role of heroes. He mentioned, “A nation that cannot tell its future generation the story of independence cannot be self-reliant. Knowing the true history instills a love for truth in the youth as well.”

Highlighting the need to maintain the continuity of the constitution, he said, “The constitution is the autobiography of a nation. It may be amended and changed as the need arises, but it is important to maintain the main continuity. Since independence, when and why any law was passed, and why it was amended—these are very important for future leadership to know.”

Regarding the role of women in the workplace, Rizvi said, “Women work more responsibly than men in many areas. So why should their working hours be reduced and restricted? Women do not want that; they want to further enhance their skills.”

Various discussions were held at the meeting on youth participation, practice of democracy, an environment of equality, and future directions of state governance.
