ASEAN-China Post-Ministerial Conference Held in Kuala Lumpur to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

The ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with China was successfully held on Thursday (10 July, 2025) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The high-level meeting brought together the Foreign Ministers of ASEAN Member States, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, to review the progress of ASEAN-China cooperation and chart the course for future collaboration. Timor-Leste participated as an observer.

During the meeting, the Ministers assessed the implementation of key initiatives under the ASEAN-China framework and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic partnership across political, economic, and socio-cultural dimensions. Emphasis was placed on enhancing regional connectivity, maritime cooperation, digital economy, and sustainable development.

The conference also served as a platform for an open exchange of views on pressing regional and global issues of mutual interest and concern, including regional security, economic resilience, climate change, and post-pandemic recovery efforts.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated China’s strong support for ASEAN centrality and pledged continued cooperation in upholding peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The ASEAN Ministers appreciated China’s ongoing contributions and encouraged further people-to-people exchanges, trade facilitation, and technological collaboration to bring tangible benefits to the peoples of the region.
