Four government agencies will work to ease traffic congestion in Dhaka North: DNCC Administrator

DMP, RAJUK and MRT authorities will work jointly with DNCC to ease traffic congestion in the areas under the jurisdiction of Dhaka North City Corporation, said DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz.

On Saturday (03 May 2025), the Administrator said these things during a site visit to open three corridors from the 2nd U-turn of the alternative July 36 Expressway (300 feet road) of Pragati Sarani to Rampura via United International University, Aftab Nagar.

At the time, he also said that if these three corridors can be opened, traffic congestion in the Pragati Sarani area will reduce, and traffic congestion in the surrounding areas will also be tolerable.

It is to be noted that due to the ongoing construction work of the Metrorail at several points of Pragati Sarani, unbearable traffic congestion is being created in the surrounding areas, resulting in increasing public suffering. The DNCC administrator has given instructions to prepare some diversion roads and service lanes to solve this problem.

In response to a question from a journalist present, he said, “We have spoken to the people who have Basundhara, Swadesh and other housing projects and they have also promised to cooperate from their places.”

Among others present at the event were DNCC Chief Engineer Brig. Gen. Md. Moin Uddin, Additional Chief Engineer Mohammad Arifur Rahman and representatives of other organizations.
