With the slogan ‘This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations and the year of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries’, the Yunnan Education and Health Exhibition has been jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial Government and the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka. The promotional exhibition was inaugurated at the Senate Building of Dhaka University on Sunday (April 20, 2025) morning.
The organizers have been organized to deepen bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and healthcare between Bangladesh and China, the sources said.

Highlighting the various healthcare promises made by China recently for Bangladeshis, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said that this year, Yunnan has designated four hospitals to treat Bangladeshi patients.
The ambassador said that cooperation at the local level should be further deepened to promote friendly exchanges between different provinces of China like Yunnan and cities like Dhaka and Chittagong and facilitate exchanges between the people of the two countries.
‘The Chinese Embassy will provide all visa facilities for our patients to go to China for treatment. I believe that in the near future, thousands of patients from Bangladesh will go to Yunnan for treatment. I promise that they will receive the best services when they travel to Yunnan.’
He also assured that more universities and medical institutions of the two countries will increase cooperation in the future.
At the same time, Yunnan Provincial Governor Wang Yubo said that in cooperation with top hospitals in China, Yunnan has established a national regional medical center specializing in cardiovascular, oncology, respiratory and other fields. He also said that Yunnan is willing to work with Bangladesh in several areas of health.
‘We look forward to deepening cooperation in disease prevention, maternal and child health care, elderly health care, as well as promoting public welfare projects such as the Brightness Action for cataract patients and the CHD program. We also aim to explore joint infectious disease prevention and control measures and international healthcare models.’
He expressed hope to strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism promotion, travel route development and product innovation, and said that both regions will work together to promote high-quality development of the tourism industry.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, China is going to help build a 1,000-bed specialized hospital in Bangladesh to enhance modern medical facilities, said Nurjahan Begum, Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
To support the rehabilitation of people with various disabilities, the Chinese government will build a 100-bed rehabilitation hospital in Dhamrai, Dhaka, he also said.
A memorandum of understanding on medical and health cooperation between Bangladesh and five organizations in Yunnan was signed at the event.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, senior officials of the administrations of the two countries, and delegations, including teachers and students, were present at the event. Later, the guests visited an exhibition on education and health. The exhibition, which started at 10 am today, will run until 5 pm.
