In a groundbreaking initiative to promote ethnosports and traditional strategy-based games, Manarat Dhaka International School & College successfully hosted the Ethnosport Training Seminar 2025 on Wednesday (12 February, 2025), witnessing an overwhelming response from students. A total of 400 enthusiastic participants took part in hands-on training sessions featuring Mas-Wrestling, Togyzqumalaq, and Mangala—games deeply rooted in history, intellect, and physical endurance.
The seminar was graced by esteemed guests, with Brigadier General S. M. Mahbub-Ul-Alam, Principal of Manarat Dhaka International School & College attending as the chief guest. Md. Al Mamun, Founder and General Secretary of International EthnoSport Bangladesh Association (IEBA), Professor Tahmina Yeasmeen, Vice Principal of the Manarat Dhaka International School and College and Engr. Md. Shajibul-al-Rajib, Editor of Business in Bangladesh, were present as special guests. Sheikh Afzal Hossain, Advisor of Business in Bangladesh, was also present.
The training sessions were conducted by the college’s trainers Borhan Uddin, Shafiqul Islam, Nazmunnahar, and Alina Khatun, who provided in-depth instruction and guidance on the techniques and strategies of each game.
The seminar not only provided a platform for students to enhance their strategic thinking, athleticism, and cultural appreciation but also played a crucial role in preserving and popularizing ethnosports in Bangladesh. By equipping young athletes with the necessary skills and exposure, the event has paved the way for future participation in both national and international ethnosport competitions.
The International Ethnosport Bangladesh Association (IEBA) remains committed to expanding awareness and engagement in ethnosports, ensuring that Bangladesh continues to make its mark on the global stage. With such initiatives, a new generation of athletes is emerging, ready to uphold and celebrate the rich traditions of ethnosports while representing Bangladesh internationally.
