The Directorate General of Food, Bangladesh, and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (14 January, 2025) to facilitate rice imports from Pakistan to Bangladesh.
Md. Abdul Khaleque, Director General of the Directorate General of Food, and Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah, Chairman of TCP, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

The signing ceremony, held in Dhaka, was attended by Syed Ahmed Maroof, High Commissioner of Pakistan, Shakeel Ahmed Mangnejo, Special Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan, and Md. Masudul Hasan, Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Bangladesh. The dignitaries congratulated both delegations on this significant milestone, which is expected to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two nations.
Following the MoU signing, the High Commissioner of Pakistan paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Adviser for Food, Mr. Ali Imam Majumder. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner presented a gift of rice on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to the Adviser for Food.
