Bangladesh and Nepal Aim to Deepen Tourism Ties by Enhancing Air Connectivity

Diplomatic Desk:

Ghanashyam Bhandari, the Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, at his office on Wednesday (October 14, 2026) at 3:00 PM.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and enhancing mutual cooperation for the development of the tourism sector. Discussions specifically focused on increasing tourism exchanges, improving connectivity, and exploring potential collaborative efforts to develop the tourism industry in both nations.

Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat informed the ambassador that the Cox’s Bazar International Airport is scheduled to be inaugurated next month. This development will create opportunities for Nepali tourists to travel directly to Cox’s Bazar, opening new avenues for the growth of the tourism sectors in both countries. He expressed optimism that Nepal’s legacy carrier, Himalaya Airlines, could operate direct flights to Cox’s Bazar.

Additionally, the Nepalese side expressed interest in launching Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights on the Dhaka-Pokhara route.

Both parties expressed optimism regarding the further strengthening of friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and the identification of new areas for mutual cooperation within the tourism sector.
