President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir calls for strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in various sectors, including trade and investment

Desk Report:

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for further strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest, including trade and commerce, investment, air connectivity, education, and training.

He made this call on Sunday (September 13, 2026) when Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.

During the meeting, the Pakistani High Commissioner reiterated the invitation from Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, for President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to visit Pakistan.

The President thanked the President of Pakistan for the invitation and invited him to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

The President stated that Pakistan is an important partner for Bangladesh in various sectors. He noted that if trade and economic activities between the two nations are further expanded, the people of both countries will reap the benefits.

To this end, he emphasized the importance of enhancing communication between the business communities and entrepreneurs of both countries and capitalizing on new commercial opportunities.

The President mentioned that Pakistani ready-made garments—particularly women’s clothing—are quite popular in Bangladesh. Against this backdrop, he suggested that the potential for exporting various Pakistani products, such as ready-made garments and cotton yarn, to Bangladesh could be further explored.

At the same time, he emphasized the need to make trade between the two countries more balanced.

The meeting also included discussions on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest to further advance the existing relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
