Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr Nicolas Weeks paid a courtesy call on Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin.
The meeting was held at the Trade Advisor’s Secretariat office on Wednesday (18 December 2024) afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the trade, economy and investment prospects of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Trade Advisor said that Bangladesh is now an investment-friendly destination. The interim government formed through the student uprising has taken effective steps to increase foreign investment.

The advisor also said that the interim government has already formed reform commissions in various sectors, the most notable of which is the Labor Reform Commission. A good working environment and safety are being ensured for workers.
Referring to the long-standing friendly relations between Sweden and Bangladesh, the Trade Advisor said that Sweden can further accelerate the relationship by creating jobs for the people of this country and investing in special economic zones. At the same time, he sought Sweden’s cooperation to continue the quota facility for Bangladeshi products in the European market during the LDC period.
The Swedish Ambassador said that some activities of Sweden are being carried out in Bangladesh. In the future, there are plans to increase the amount of work in traditional, commercial and economic sectors. At the same time, he emphasized on the diversification of other products besides clothing products made in Sweden.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan and Kawsar Nazneen Chowdhury were present during the meeting.
