Investor confidence will increase with effective implementation of policy reforms: Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury MP has said that the investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh will be further strengthened through the effective and consistent implementation of policy reforms. He said that predictability, consistency of policies and ease of doing business are very important to increase investor confidence.

He said these things at the flagship luncheon titled ‘Building Investors’ Confidence: From Policy Reform to Effective Implementation’ organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday (August 16, 2026).

At the event, government policymakers, businessmen, investors and AmCham members discussed various aspects of strengthening the country’s investment climate, implementing policy reforms and increasing investment in the private sector.

Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the government is focusing on reducing regulatory complexity, reforming the tax system and simplifying commercial processes to create a more business-friendly environment. He also mentioned that policy consistency and predictability need to be ensured to maintain investor confidence.

AmCham President Syed Mohammad Kamal said that in order to transform Bangladesh’s strong economic base into sustainable investment and investor confidence, effective and consistent implementation of policy reforms must be ensured.

HSBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md. Mahbub Ur Rahman highlighted the importance of stability, security and predictability in building investor confidence. He said that if the commercial process is made easier and more effective, investment opportunities in Bangladesh will also increase.

A lively question and answer session was held with the participation of the business community at the end of the event. It discussed Bangladesh’s economic prospects, reform activities and necessary steps to encourage private investment and new entrepreneurs.

Alauddin Ahmed, Vice President of AmCham and CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, delivered the vote of thanks at the event.

The event was organized in collaboration with Chevron Bangladesh, HSBC, Transcom Group and Visa.
