On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan in Kishoreganj, the government has taken up a comprehensive development project worth Tk 17 crore to enhance and modernize the overall facilities of the ground. As part of this, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman laid the foundation stone for the development work of the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan on Sunday (August 16).
The Prime Minister gave this information while speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling of plaques of various development activities undertaken by the government at the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan and laying the foundation stone on Sunday (August 16, 2026) evening.




The Prime Minister said that lakhs of people come to offer prayers at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan every Eid. The 200th congregation is going to be held at this ground in the future. Keeping this special occasion in mind, the government has taken up a comprehensive project worth Tk 17 crore for the overall development of the ground.
He said that 6 crore taka has already been transferred from the government fund to the Deputy Commissioner for the implementation of the project. He also expressed hope that the development activities will be visible very soon.
Under the project, the necessary infrastructure and civic facilities of the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan will be increased, as well as the overall environment and management of the ground will be modernized.
After the program, the Prime Minister waved and greeted the crowd. A large number of people from different classes and professions gathered at the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan to catch a glimpse of her and listen to her speech. There was great enthusiasm among the locals surrounding the Prime Minister’s presence.
Earlier, the Prime Minister also participated in the tree plantation program organized by the Kishoreganj District Chhatra Dal and gave a brief speech to the people present.
