Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, MP, said that July is not the achievement of any party, group or faction, but the achievement of all the people of this country. No movement or struggle is done in a day, ultimate success comes through long-term sacrifices and hardships.
The minister said this at a discussion titled ‘Bloody July: The Nation’s Expectations’ organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Auditorium of the National Press Club on Monday (August 3, 2026).
The minister said that in the last 17 years, the highest human rights violations have been committed against the Zia family and BNP leaders and activists. Hundreds of leaders and activists like Ilyas Ali have been disappeared and murdered, whose families have not yet found them. Dictators still want to create division among the people of this country. The minister reminded everyone that division will bring suffering to the people of this country and called for unity.
Stating that it is the responsibility of all of us to stand by the martyrs and injured fighters of the July Movement, the minister said that the government is currently working on the rehabilitation of the July fighters on the basis of highest priority.
At the event, the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh said that July should not be pocketed by anyone alone. They called for honoring the real July fighters.
In addition, the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh were present at the event. Maulana Manjurul Islam Afendi, Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech at the event and Maulana Abdur Rab Yusufi, Senior Vice President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, presided over the event.
