A new international dimension has been added to Bangladesh’s rapidly developing coffee and cafe culture. Thailand’s popular coffee chain ‘Cafe Amazon Bangladesh’ has officially started its journey as a joint venture between the country’s leading business organization Bashundhara Group and Thailand’s PTT Oil & Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTT OR).
Cafe Amazon’s operations in Bangladesh began with the inauguration of the brand’s flagship store in the Bashundhara residential area of the capital on Thursday (August 6). Later, its official celebration was held with a grand event at the atrium of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall.
The arrival of Cafe Amazon in Bangladesh is not just the journey of an international coffee brand, but also opens the door to new possibilities for the country’s modern retail sector, young entrepreneurs and employment, according to those concerned.
Under the visionary leadership of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, the company has been bringing international quality products, services and business initiatives to Bangladesh for a long time. Cafe Amazon is expected to ensure a world-class cafe experience for the country’s consumers as well as create new opportunities for investment, employment and entrepreneurship.
Cafe Amazon Bangladesh’s goal is not limited to setting up just a few outlets. In the long term, it plans to build a strong franchise network across the country, through which potential entrepreneurs in the country will get the opportunity to join and international quality cafe services will be more easily available across the country.
Anvir Bashundhara Group Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Tanvir Bashundhara Group Managing Director Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Cafe Amazon came to Bangladesh through this strategic partnership with PTT OR under the leadership of Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan, Managing Director of TBG (Tanvir Bashundhara Group). This initiative reflects the commitment of both organizations towards international quality service, operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan said at the event, “We do not see Bangladesh as just a developing market, but rather as a country with tremendous potential. Through our partnership with PTT OR, a world-class brand will create new opportunities in Bangladesh. Cafe Amazon is the beginning of a larger journey, which will contribute to the economic and social progress of the country through international partnerships.”
The inaugural event was colorful and diverse. With Thai cultural performances, traditional Muay Thai martial arts demonstrations, customer activations, captivating musical performances by popular musicians Habib Wahid and Zefar Rahman, and the presence of Cafe Amazon’s popular mascot ‘ZonZon’, visitors enjoyed a unique experience of Thai culture and hospitality.
The event was graced by His Excellency Thitiporn Chirachawadi, Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka, Anusorn Kautipabittaya, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) of the Royal Thai Embassy, and Pozjana Panyangvait, President of the Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce. They were accompanied by government officials, diplomats, business leaders and senior officials of both organizations from Bangladesh and Thailand.
Present on behalf of PTT OR and Cafe Amazon International were Kripit Premmani, Senior Executive Vice President of Lifestyle Business, Thiti Suansak, Vice President of Business and Commerce Development, Cafe Amazon International, and Wilai Buncharoenchai, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing, Cafe Amazon, along with senior officials of the organization.
Apart from this, Bashundhara City Developments Limited Deputy Managing Director Captain Sheikh Ehsan Reza (Retd.), Bashundhara Group Chief Marketing Officer Ziaul Haque Sikder and Head of Business Development Mohammad Abdullah were present.
