Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen attended and delivered a speech at the inaugural ceremony of the Comparative Governance Forum Joint Training Programme 2026 on August 3, 2026. More than 80 representatives from the government, academia and research institutions of Bangladesh participated in the program.
The program was attended by Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Fudan University in China Professor Chen Zhimin, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) Major General Ridwanur Rahman, participants of the training program and researchers from various think tanks in Bangladesh.
Ambassador Yao Wen said in his speech that Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited China last June. During the visit, the top leaders of the two countries agreed to further enhance the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to build a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era. At the same time, the two countries decided to strengthen experience exchange in governance and good governance.
He said that in this context, the successful launch of the joint training program will play a significant role in implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and will further advance the exchange of knowledge, experience and mutual learning on good governance between China and Bangladesh.
Humayun Kabir, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, said that China has achieved remarkable achievements in governance. Especially in poverty alleviation and science and technology development, China’s experience is very valuable for Bangladesh. He thanked the Chinese side for organizing this training program and said that Bangladesh is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in various areas of good governance and practical cooperation.
The concerned parties expressed hope that this joint training program will increase mutual understanding between policymakers, researchers, and experts of the two countries and open up new areas of bilateral cooperation in the future.
