State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque has urged those who are working illegally as a fraud ring to get better. He said, everyone is being monitored by the DB police and various agencies. There is no chance of getting away with it. So if you do not stop them yet, then you have Saturn’s condition on your forehead.
State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur said these things at the official inauguration of the online complaint management module under the Overseas Employment Platform (OEP) at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital on Thursday (July 30, 2026).
The State Minister said, we are discussing the process in Malaysia as to what process people will be sent there. Avoiding the controversial process of the past, we want to create a way for Bangladeshis to travel there at a low cost in a transparent process. Before that, I see that advertisements are being made for waiting in line to take money, serializing – these are going on. This is clearly against the immigration law. Because, there is no opportunity to advertise without the permission of the ministry.
Stating that most of the nearly three thousand recruiting licensees in the country are involved in irregularities, he said that if the rules are followed properly, more than four to five hundred licenses will not survive. The government will take a strict stance to restore discipline in the immigration sector, including canceling the licenses of fake and irregular recruiting agencies. He also made it clear that no kind of bribery or irregularities will be tolerated to get a loan from the Expatriate Welfare Bank.
Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Mokhtar Ahmed said, we have a plan to post magistrates in the ministry, BMET and the Wage Earners Welfare Board, who will immediately resolve complaints or problems.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan said at the event that the current government has some ‘flagship programs’. One of these is the ‘Expatriate Card’ for expatriates. Some of the benefits of the grievance redressal issue on which we have come together today will be included in the Expatriate Card.
Developed with the technical assistance of Systech Digital Limited, this module will bring the BMET central office and all the district employment and manpower offices of the country under an integrated digital framework. Expatriate workers and their family members will be able to submit complaints online, upload documents and track the updated progress of complaints from home. BMET officials will be able to complete the entire process of investigation, arbitration, settlement and report preparation in the fastest possible time through a digital system.
BMET Director General Jamil Ahmed, Ramru Executive Director Dr. Tasneem Siddiqui and senior officials of the ministry were present at the event.
