Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that active cooperation of doctors is essential to make the country’s health sector stronger and more people-oriented.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the ‘The First Health Cadre Day-2026’ program organized by the BCS Health Cadre Association at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Thursday (July 30).
The minister said that the number of doctors in the country is still insufficient compared to the population. In addition, it has become difficult to ensure the desired healthcare services due to manpower and infrastructure crisis in government hospitals. Therefore, the government and doctors must work together to make the health sector effective.
He said that the government wants to build a modern and people-friendly health system by eliminating various inconsistencies created in the health sector in the past. For this, he called on doctors working at the upazila and district levels to responsibly ensure service to the common people from their workplaces.
Stressing the importance of ensuring a safe working environment for doctors, the local government minister said the government will seriously consider the reasonable demands of doctors. He assured that he will always be by their side in developing the health sector and solving the problems of doctors.
