Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam, Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal and Secretary of the National Assembly Secretariat, Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, have extended floral greetings to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, MP, on assuming the duties of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

After the President assumed the duties of the President on Friday (24 July 2026), they paid a courtesy call on the Speaker and offered floral greetings. At that time, they wished him all-round success and good health in discharging his duties as the President.

Earlier, in accordance with Article 50(3) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, President Md. Shahabuddin sent his resignation letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly. Later, in accordance with Article 54 of the Constitution, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, MP, assumed the duties of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

After this formality of assuming the duties while maintaining the constitutional continuity of the state, senior officials of the National Assembly congratulated the newly appointed Acting President and wished him successful discharge of his duties.
