Bangladesh seeks cooperation from European countries in developing aviation sector

On Wednesday (July 15, 2026), Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP paid a courtesy call on French Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Jean Marc Sere Charlet, UK Ambassador Mrs. Sarah Cooke, Spanish Ambassador Mr. Gabriel Sistiaga, Charge d’Affaires of the German Embassy Mrs. Anja Tersten and Deputy Chief of the European Union Mission Mrs. Baiba Zerin at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening, dynamizing and expanding the existing friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the European Union countries in a more dynamic and multidimensional manner. Detailed discussions were held on increasing mutual cooperation, especially the development of the civil aviation sector.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the addition of Airbus as part of Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet expansion. During this meeting, the Minister and the State Minister expressed their interest in purchasing Airbus with the aim of forming a sustainable mixed fleet while maintaining national interests. In response, the representatives expressed their commitment to provide all necessary cooperation.
