Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated DMC-Day 2026 and tree plantation program organized on the occasion of Dhaka Medical College’s 80th anniversary and 81st founding anniversary.

On Saturday (July 11, 2026), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman drove himself from his Gulshan residence to the Dhaka Medical College campus at 10 am. At that time, his wife and former student of Dhaka Medical College, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, was sitting next to him.


Later, the Prime Minister formally inaugurated DMC-Day 2026 by releasing pigeons and balloons, symbols of peace, at the Shaheed Milon Chattar of Dhaka Medical College.

During the event, a presentation on the construction of two female hostels at Dhaka Medical College under the project to construct 19 hostel buildings with modern facilities for students of 10 medical colleges was made to the Prime Minister. She took a detailed view of the various aspects of the project and provided necessary guidance to the concerned.
After that, the Prime Minister planted a memorial tree on the college campus and announced the inauguration of the tree plantation program.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also participated in a special discussion titled ‘DMCians’ Thoughts on Modernizing the Health System of Bangladesh’ organized on the occasion of DMC-Day 2026. At the event, he gave a directional speech to the doctors, teachers, students and concerned, emphasizing the development of the health sector, modern medical education, research and building a public service-oriented health system.
Teachers, doctors, current and former students of Dhaka Medical College, senior officials of the health sector and guests from various levels were present at the event.
