Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said that this town will not be saved from floods, drought and erosion until the Teesta Master Plan is implemented. Therefore, implementing the Teesta Master Plan is the need of the hour.
The Relief Minister said these things on Thursday (July 2, 2026) while distributing emergency relief to the water-logged people of Mogolhat, Rajpur and Khuniagach unions of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila.
He sought China’s cooperation in implementing the Teesta Master Plan during his recent visit to China and referred to the Prime Minister’s Teesta-related speech in the National Parliament, saying that the current government is a patriotic nationalist government. This government is committed to implementing the Teesta Master Plan.
He called for spreading the message of his initiated ‘Jago Bahe, Teesta Bachai’ movement to every corner of the northern districts and said that Teesta is a transboundary river deeply involved in the lives, livelihoods and economy of the people of northern Bangladesh. It is not just a natural watercourse, but also an important basis for agricultural production, fisheries, ecological balance, biodiversity and regional development.
Local administration and political leaders were present at the time.
