Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a courtesy call on Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bangladesh Ali Thanayun Abdul Wahab Hamadah. The meeting, held in a very cordial atmosphere at the Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Thursday (July 2, 2026), discussed various issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
The meeting emphasized on further strengthening the continuity of the historical and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait. Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman appreciated Kuwait’s long-standing cooperation and support in the development progress of Bangladesh and expressed hope that the existing friendly relations between the two countries will deepen further in the future.
In the discussion on manpower export, the Kuwaiti Ambassador highly appreciated the contribution of skilled and semi-skilled workers of Bangladesh. He also praised the role of Bangladeshi expatriates working in Kuwait. At the same time, there was a positive discussion on the issue of recruiting more Bangladeshi manpower through legal processes and increasing their facilities.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of expanding trade and investment. The Foreign Minister called for effective initiatives to reduce the existing trade deficit between the two countries and invited Kuwaiti investors to invest in the special economic zones established in Bangladesh. At the time, the Kuwaiti Ambassador expressed the Kuwaiti government’s deep interest in increasing investment in Bangladesh.
The two sides also exchanged views on further expanding existing cooperation in the energy sector and strengthening mutual economic partnership.
At the end of the meeting, the Kuwaiti Ambassador praised Bangladesh’s economic progress and global diplomatic successes and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would reach new heights in the coming days. In response, the Foreign Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Kuwaiti government and reiterated the Bangladesh government’s commitment to continue all-out diplomatic cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a delegation from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Dhaka were present at the meeting.
