A commemoration was held on the first death anniversary of the late Abdullah Hill Rakib, one of the pioneers of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry and a prominent industrial entrepreneur. The event was attended by current and former leaders of the country’s garment industry, entrepreneurs, exporters and eminent persons from various levels and paid deep tribute to his contribution.

Speakers at the commemoration said that the global position that Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry has reached today is due to the significant contribution of visionary entrepreneurs like Abdullah Hill Rakib. He was not only a successful industrialist, but also played an important role in the sustainable development of the industry, strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the international market and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Present at the event were the current and former presidents of BGMEA, current and former presidents of BKMEA, industrialists, business leaders, exporters and stakeholders from various levels of the garment sector. They remembered the late’s working life, leadership qualities and his outstanding contribution to the industry.






At this time, Mohammad Salauddin, Advisor to the Knowledge-Based Platform on Textiles and Garments and Director of Riaz Garments Limited, was also present at the event and paid tribute to the late Abdullah Hill Rakib. He said that Abdullah Hill Rakib was a leader who gave utmost importance to the progress of the entire industry along with personal success.
The speakers also said that even if a person dies, his work, ideals and contribution are never lost. Abdullah Hill Rakib will be permanently remembered in the history of the ready-made garment industry of Bangladesh through his working life.
Special prayers were held at the memorial service seeking forgiveness for his departed soul. All present pray to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear this grief. Amen.
