Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the people of Palestine. He reiterated Bangladesh’s strong stand on behalf of Palestine.
The Information Minister said these things at a film screening on the ‘Nakba’ or Great Catastrophe organized at the Palestinian Embassy in Dhaka on Sunday (May 24, 2026).
The Palestinians remember the forcible expulsion of a large number of Palestinians from the Palestinian territory occupied by Israel in 1948 as the ‘Nakba’ or ‘Great Catastrophe’. On this occasion, the Palestinian Embassy organized a nearly two-hour film screening based on the context of the Nakba.
Ambassadors, diplomats, dignitaries and media representatives of various countries posted in Bangladesh were present at the event.
At the beginning of the event, the Palestinian Ambassador presented a memento to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the government and people of Bangladesh for their continued support for the Palestinian issue.
