Diplomatic Desk:
On Wednesday (May 20, 2026), the US Embassy in Dhaka organized a series of events as part of the ‘Freedom250’ program to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence. The initiative is highlighting the fundamental values of freedom, innovation, and founding of the United States, which have guided the country’s progress for more than two centuries.

The event was attended by Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Minister of Finance and Planning of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, as the chief guest.

The event is not only a celebration of the history and heritage of the United States, but also an attempt to further strengthen the long-standing diplomatic and strategic partnership between Bangladesh and the United States. Emphasis is also being placed on creating new areas of cooperation between the two countries through education, culture, innovation, and enhancing people-to-people ties.

As part of the initiative, various cultural and diplomatic activities are being carried out to promote the spirit of freedom and democratic values, which have played a significant role in advancing the modern United States.

In this context, a statement by US President Donald Trump was quoted, where he said, “With just a piece of parchment and 56 signatures, the United States began the greatest political journey in human history.”
