He said that Bangladesh has now become a potential destination for foreign investment through an investment-friendly environment, developed infrastructure, skilled manpower and export-oriented industries.
The Minister also said that there is ample scope for increasing cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, logistics, port infrastructure and environmentally friendly industries. The government is working to attract foreign investment in these sectors and diversify exports.
The High Commissioner said that Singapore is interested in doing more business and investment in Bangladesh. He especially mentioned the Bay Terminal project as an important and exemplary initiative. He said that this investment of about 800 million to 1 billion US dollars will play an important role in developing Bangladesh’s trade infrastructure and will be helpful in attracting more foreign investment in the future.
The High Commissioner also said that from the perspective of food security, Singapore is interested in importing agricultural products from Bangladesh.
