Transparent and people-friendly land management must be established: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Desk Report:

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that there is no alternative to transparent, accountable and people-friendly land management to build a just and modern state system. He reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing a corruption-free, harassment-free, technology-based and citizen-friendly land administration.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ organized at Bhumi Bhaban in Tejgaon in the capital on Tuesday (19 May 2026) morning.

The Prime Minister said, “Providing services is not a pity for the people, but it is the responsibility of the government to ensure service to the people. Our goal is to establish a corruption-free, harassment-free, technology-based and citizen-friendly land management, which will further accelerate the sustainable development of the country.”

He said that over time, the number of land ownership and partnerships has increased, as a result, the responsibility of the officials concerned in preserving and managing land records has also increased. Stating that issues like ownership, rent, documents, ledgers, dag, name transfer, deposit-rejection, mouza, CS, RS and DS are deeply related to the lives of the common people, she said that land management is now becoming modern and easier due to technological development.

The Prime Minister also said that due to the increase in the country’s population, the amount of land per capita is decreasing. As the economic value of land is increasing, disputes, lawsuits and complications related to land are also increasing. In many cases, these disputes are destroying the peace of individual and family life and are also creating obstacles in national development activities.

She said, “In such a reality, planned use of land, accurate record keeping and efficient management are now the essential demands of the time.”

Stating that the government is working to prepare accurate land records by conducting survey activities using advanced technology, the Prime Minister said that almost all services of land administration are being brought to the digital platform so that citizens can receive services easily, quickly and effectively.

He further said that by organizing a three-day land service fair across the country, the government has implemented another election promise made to the people. He also mentioned that the politics of fulfilling the promises made to the people is being taken forward by implementing each point of the election manifesto in stages.

The Prime Minister said, “Land is not just a small asset; it is the basis of people’s security, reliability, economic status, livelihood and future. Based on that realization, the government is working to make land management free from harassment and corruption by delivering state services to the doorsteps of the people.”

He expressed optimism that the people will benefit from this land fair organized at the district and upazila levels. The fair is providing facilities for e-registration, online payment of land development tax, correction of records, receipt of accounts and settlement of land-related complaints.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu presided over the program. State Minister for Land Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin and Land Secretary ASM Saleh Uddin also spoke.

Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid, Law and Justice Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid Habib, along with members of parliament and senior government officials, were present at the event.
