11-party electoral alliance submits nominations for reserved women’s seats

Desk Report:

11-party electoral alliance has submitted nominations to the Election Commission for the reserved women’s seats of the 13th National Parliament. The nominations were formally submitted at a meeting held at the conference room of the Election Commission Bhaban in Agargaon, the capital, on Tuesday (April 21).

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad submitted the nominations to the Election Commission.

Today was the last day to collect and submit nominations for the reserved women’s seats. According to the Election Commission, 464 candidates have collected nomination forms so far to contest against the 50 reserved seats. According to the announced schedule, interested candidates have the opportunity to collect and submit nomination forms until 4 pm.

According to the proportional distribution of parliamentary seats, BNP will get 36 reserved women’s seats, Jamaat-led alliance will get 13 seats and independent candidates will get one seat.

The candidates nominated for the reserved women’s seats by the 11-party unity are – Nurunnisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Advocate Sabikunnahar Munni, Nazmun Nahar Nilu, Professor Mahfuza Hannan, Sajeda Samad, Shamsunnahar Begum, Engineer Mardia Momtaz, Rokeya Begum, Monira Sharmin, Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Barrister Tasmia Pradhan and Engineer Mahbuba Hakim.

According to the next step of the Election Commission, the list of final candidates will be published after the scrutiny of the nomination papers.
