President and Prime Minister inspect parade on Independence Day

Desk Report:

After 18 years, a colorful parade was held at the National Parade Square in the capital to mark the great independence and national day. This time, the event turned into a unique display of patriotism, discipline and military capability.

President Md. Shahabuddin attended the event as the chief guest and took the salute of the parade. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was also present. In addition, Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ahmed Azam Khan, Defense Advisor to the Prime Minister Brigadier General Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam (Retd.) and the three service chiefs welcomed the President.

Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament, cabinet members, members of parliament, senior military and civilian officials, foreign diplomatic figures and media representatives were present at the event.

The parade was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, under the direction of the Armed Forces Division and under the management of the 9th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army. The brave freedom fighters, armed forces, paramilitary forces and members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense participated in it.

Major General SM Asadul Haque served as the parade commander. Brigadier General Mohammad Shafqat-ul-Islam was the deputy parade commander. Brigadier General Md. Anwar Uz Zaman served as the commander of the combined mechanized fleet.

A total of 25 contingents from different forces participated in the parade and saluted the President. The participation of the brave freedom fighters in well-equipped military vehicles was one of the attractions of the event, which made the event particularly significant.

In addition, in addition to the display of modern weapons of the armed forces, a magnificent flypast of Army Aviation, Naval Aviation, BGB Air Wing and RAB Forces was held in the air. The adventurous freefall jump of the Para Commando members fascinated the audience.

Later, the fascinating flypast and aerobatic display of the Bangladesh Air Force added a different dimension to the program. This part was led by Air Commodore Mehedi Hasan.

The program was broadcast live on various private television channels and radios including Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. Banners and billboards were placed on various roads of the capital to highlight the history of the Liberation War to the new generation, and pictures of the activities of various forces were also displayed on the parade ground.

The cooperation of the Public Works Department, PDB, Dhaka WASA, Dhaka North City Corporation, T&T, DESCO, Department of Public Health, Department of Mass Communication, PWD and Department of Architecture was significant in successfully completing the parade.

After a long hiatus, this event has reawakened the spirit of independence among the people of the country and set a shining example of national unity and pride.
