Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has said that all institutions must work sincerely for the development of Chittagong Hill Tracts and to maintain communal harmony. He said that the current democratic government will not allow any kind of discrimination to be created in the development of the Hill Tracts.
The minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with officials of the district government departments at the conference room of the Rangamati District Administration on Sunday (March 1, 2026).
In his speech, Minister Dipen Dewan directed to give priority to the 180-day program of the current government and said, I want to be your fellow traveler. We have to move forward with all the communities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Not excluding anyone. He urged the government officials to identify the issues of public interest and assured that he would directly present the demands for the development of this region to the head of government.
Regarding communal harmony, the minister warned that if there is discrimination in development or facilities, harmony is likely to be destroyed. Therefore, he urged all institutions to ensure equal opportunities for all castes, religions and communities.
The meeting, chaired by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Najma Ashrafi, was attended by Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Major General (Retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Rangamati Region Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Nazmul Haque, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Konkan Chakma and senior officials of the concerned departments. In the meeting, officials of various government departments of the district presented their respective activities and progress before the minister.
