The newly appointed Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, has said that transparency and accountability will be the motto of the ICT sector. In his speech, he laid utmost importance on ensuring transparency and accountability in the ICT sector and said that the professionalism and sincerity of the officials are essential to implement the policies that the government will set.
The minister said these things at a reception given by the ICT Department at the ICT Department meeting room in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday (January 18, 2026).
Fakir Mahbub Anam said that ICT is a very important and promising sector. The government’s priority is to expand ICT services at every upazila level of the country and make technology facilities easily available to the common people. He called on the officials to work responsibly and unitedly from their respective positions.
The minister further said that the new government wants to gain the trust of the people through work. Noting that the Prime Minister has given top priority to work, he said that the expectations of the people will be fulfilled only through visible progress and effective initiatives.
Seeking the cooperation of the officials, the minister said that his main goal will be to take the ICT sector forward in a transparent and dynamic environment in the light of a new vision and policy.
In his speech, ICT Division Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury welcomed the newly appointed Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam and said that the ICT Division is working as the center of the country’s digital transformation. The division is implementing various projects to formulate ICT laws and policies, establish data centers and high-tech parks, provide more than 450 digital services, support startups and innovation, strengthen cyber security, and create skilled manpower.
He pledged to work together to implement the government’s policies by ensuring transparency and accountability under the guidance of the minister.
Senior officials of the ICT Department, heads of various departments and organizations, and officials and employees were present at the event.
