Breaking the long-standing tradition, the interim government has taken the initiative to organize the oath-taking ceremony of the new government at the South Plaza of the Parliament House instead of Bangabhaban. Sources said that the necessary preparations have already started at the venue and the concerned departments are working in coordination around the overall arrangements.
It is learnt that the oath-taking ceremony of the new BNP cabinet led by Tarique Rahman may be held on Tuesday (February 17) afternoon. On this occasion, the Cabinet Division and the Parliament Secretariat are jointly making overall preparations to organize the ceremony. Construction of a temporary stage at the South Plaza, seating arrangements for guests, strengthening the security perimeter and various aspects related to the protocol are being finalized.
The winning party in the 13th National Parliament election has already completed preparations to form the government. The activities of the new parliament will officially begin with the swearing-in of the newly elected members of parliament. After that, the official journey of the new government will begin with the swearing-in of the cabinet members, sources said.
