Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mr. Mohammad Jahidul Islam Miah visited the polling stations in Sitakunda and Mirsarai to inspect the latest preparations for the vote

Chittagong Correspondent:

The Chittagong District Vigilance and Observation Team, along with representatives of law enforcement agencies, visited various polling stations in Sitakunda and Mirsarai upazilas to inspect the latest preparations for the vote on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 to be held on February 12.

Chittagong District Commissioner and Returning Officer Mr. Mohammad Jahidul Islam Miah was present as the president of the Vigilance and Observation Team. Other members of the team included Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan, Deputy Director of Local Government Department Mr. Golam Mainuddin Hasan, Additional District Magistrate Mr. Syed Mahbubul Haque, Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension Mr. Apru Marma, District Commandant (Ansar and VDP) Mr. Mostaq Ahmed, Director of District Information Office Mr. Md. Borhan Uddin (Member Secretary) and Senior District Election Officer Mr. Mohammad Bashir Ahmed along with concerned officials.

Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fakhrul Islam and Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Somaiya Akhter were present during the inspection.

In Sitakunda Upazila, Centre No. 17 Terriil Bahumukhi High School polling station (total voters 3664; male 1810, female 1854) and Centre No. 23 Sitakunda Degree College polling station (total voters 5291; male 2705, female 2586) were inspected.

In addition, in Mirsarai Upazila, Sarkarhat Nazar Ali Rupjan High School polling station of Wahedpur Union (total voters 4157, polling booths 8) and Khayachhara High School polling station of West Khayachhara area (total voters 3321, polling booths 6) were inspected.

During the inspection, the overall preparation of the polling stations, security arrangements, condition of polling booths and compliance with election rules and regulations were observed. At this time, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officials to follow a zero tolerance policy for violations of election laws and code of conduct, maintain law and order at polling stations, and maintain strict vigilance to ensure transparency and impartiality in the voting process.
