Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has expressed deep grief over the death of firefighter Shamim Ahmed, who was burnt in a fire at a chemical warehouse in Tongi, Gazipur.
In a condolence message today (September 23, 2025), the advisor prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to his bereaved family members.
It is to be noted that firefighter Shamim Ahmed (40) passed away at approximately 3 pm today while undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). At the time of his death, he left behind numerous admirers, including his wife and three children.
Shamim Ahmed was undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery after suffering 100% burns while extinguishing a fire at a chemical factory in Sahara Market, Tongi, yesterday (September 22). His village is in Netrokona district and he was working as a firefighter at the Tongi Fire Station until his death.
