Home Secretary leaves for nine-day official visit to Pakistan

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani has left for Pakistan on a nine-day official visit to strengthen bilateral relations.

He arrived at Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan on a Thai Airways flight on Wednesday (September 17) night.

Upon arrival at the airport, he was received by Special Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Federal Government of Pakistan, Mr. Dawood Muhammad Bareach, and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan.

During the visit, discussions will be held on the fight against drugs and terrorism between Bangladesh and Pakistan, mutual cooperation between the police academies of the two countries in police training, and the coexistence of both countries on the Rohingya issue. In addition, a memorandum of understanding titled “Combating Illicit Trafficking and Abuse of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors” will be signed between the two countries during this visit.

During the visit, the Home Secretary will inaugurate the e-passport service at the Bangladesh High Commission in Pakistan, Islamabad and Bangladesh Mission, Karachi. He will also visit the Safe City Project implemented in Pakistan, the Pakistan Police Academy and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP).

After the visit, the Senior Secretary will return to the country on September 26.

It is hoped that the visit will play an important role in improving diplomatic and political relations between the two countries.
