$800 million investment coming to Laldia Char in Chittagong: BIDA Chairman

A $800 million investment may be made in the container terminal of Chittagong Port in Laldia Char, said Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA).

He said this after visiting Laldia Char and Bay Terminal of Chittagong Port on Thursday (May 8, 2025) morning.

He said, ‘The annual FDI in our country is not more than $700 million. If an investment of $800 million comes from a project, it is very important for our economy. It will create huge employment opportunities. On behalf of BIDA, we are closely monitoring the progress of this project.’

The Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Chairman of Chittagong Port Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman were present at the time.
