The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka organized a grand event on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) to mark the 76th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations.

Advisor to the Ministry of Finance Dr. Salahuddin Ahmed and Advisor to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui were present as the chief guests at the event.

Dr. Salahuddin Ahmed said in his speech, “We get moral support, economic support, and organization. We are at a stage of transformation, so we need the support of friendly countries. China is one of our main sources of support. Today we are celebrating 50 years of China-Bangladesh friendship and at the same time the 76th founding anniversary of China. China, being the holder of ancient civilizations, has become one of the world’s economic powers today and has also shown expertise in trade and negotiations.”

Advisor to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui said, “In the last five decades, Bangladesh and China have progressed not only in trade and connectivity, but also in the bond of people’s hearts. Cultural diplomacy has played a key role in this journey. Through the exchange of art, literature, music, environment, and museums, we have shared not only artifacts, but also perspectives and philosophies of life. In the past month, three Bangladeshi teams have gone to China for training under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture. This progress has created an opportunity to build closer relations.”

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen said in his speech, “Today, we are celebrating the 76th founding anniversary of China and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations together. The year 2025 is of great significance for China. On September 3, China celebrated the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. President Xi Jinping said in his speech, ‘The Chinese people are firmly standing on the right side of history and on the path of progress of human civilization.’ China has set an example in the world in poverty alleviation and has always worked for world peace, stability and progress.”
